Overview & Reviews
A convertible joins the PT Cruiser lineup for 2005.
- Distinctive styling inside and out, spacious cabin with multiconfigurable rear seats, smooth ride, spirited acceleration on turbo models, reasonable pricing.
- Acceleration can be sluggish with base engine, awkward seating position for shorter drivers, unimpressive fuel economy.

PT Convertible GT = FUN!!! - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By PlumCrazy - January 10 - 10:00 amThis car is FUN. When I saw top down I grinned. When I drove with the top down I SMILED. Turbo has good Punch. AutoStick can keep turbo spun-up for quick dose of power. AutoStick is good him/her combo. Handling/Ride tuned for good touring car, tight not jaw rattling. Desceptively roomy small car. Top is a snap 10 sec up/down. Top is quiet and good tight fit. Smartglass windows makes for good seal when doors are closed, no wind noise or leaking. When top up cant tell its a convertible, except rear slit/window. Want visibility and MPG get the 150 hp hardtop.

Stylish, reliable, mostly practical - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By amerigo88 - December 31 - 3:36 pmPosted 1st review 15 mos ago. Just changed oil and rotated tires - very reliable. Bought as primary car for commuting Dad. Take care of soft top - you better garage this car. Chrysler says sport bar is NOT a roll bar. Pluses: great styling, nimble, manual shift (bit notchy though), easy top operation, high truck-like seating, sturdy feel of structure, glass rear window with defroster. Minuses: Top-down means using trunk a lot and access is poor, cant see stoplights with top up, top freezes to "smart glass" on doors in winter - nearly pulled glass off track, long doors dont open wide in parking lots - better be skinny, flimsy drawer under pass seat, awful rear visibility top-up

my new PT GT convertable - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By jamesr - November 22 - 10:00 amThis car is lots of fun to drive; much more powerful than the Ltd. Edition PT I traded in. The engine has a nice growl. Dont waste your time with the auto, this car needs the stick. Is an all wheel drive version in the future? Rear visibility isnt great and takes some getting used to.

Baby Hemi - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Zoey12 - November 22 - 10:00 amThis is my first experience with a convertible and i love it.I traded a Dodge Durango in on the Crusier convertible.. Gas mileage is not as good as i wanted but much better than the durango..I think the milage will get better as it gets broken in..I have no fear of getting out to pass a car, it gives me all the power i need. I do notice a blind spot on the right side toward the back of the car, but only when the top is up..

By Purrdy Thang - October 14 - 6:33 amI love the way my pt handles both in the city and on the highway. On my last road trip my pt got 40 miles to the gal.The ride is very smooth. The inside is more spacious then it appears to be.

Better Than a HHR - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By BETTER THAN HHR - September 17 - 7:33 amStarted looking in August at the new Chevy HHR. Test drove one. Too much car for that little 4Cyl. Test drove a PT Limited Cruiser and really liked the way it handled. As far as wanting Turbo, no 4Cyl. engine can handle turbo day in and out. Great Car Chrysler!!!

Love our PT convertible - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Larry Harris - August 29 - 11:06 amWe get more compliments from people than I can believe. Every where we go folks tell us that the wifes car is very sharp. The performance is unbelievable with the turbo and the 4 wheel disc brakes stop the car very quickly with little fade. The power top is a breeze to raise and lower also.
